The Mega 4 -- Atari 800 4128k Memory Upgrade:

The Mega 4 Board For the Atari 800 easily upgrades your Atari 800 to 48k of base memory plus 4080k of Axlon compatible banked memory for a total of 4128k of RAM. Unlike many other memory upgrades, this upgrade requires no soldering and/or tearing your computer apart. All that is required is for you to remove your current memory card(s), install the “Jumper Board” (included but not shown) in memory module slot 1 and The Mega 4 Board in memory module slot 2. That’s it! The 3rd slot is available for other upgrades.
Extra Axlon compatible banked memory can be used for applications that support it, games that require the extra memory, a RAM disk (or disks), etc.
Instructions:Remove the top cover on your Atari 800 by opening the cartridge cover. Then either remove the 2 screws at the rear of the cartridge cover or turn the 2 latches so that your cover can be removed. Remove the cover. The front slot will have the Operating System. The 3 slots after the Operating System will have the memory modules. Remove the memory modules. In the slot closest to the Operating System, install the Jumper Board. The Jumper Board is labeled as to the direction that faces the keyboard. Ensure this board is inserted in the correct direction or else your Atari may be damaged. In the next slot, install The Mega 4 Board. This board is also labeled as to the direction that faces the keyboard. Ensure this board is inserted in the correct direction or else your Mega 4 Board will suffer damage. Re-install the top cover and enjoy.
Note: Pictures show The Mega 4 board as well as the installation in an Atari 800. In place of the 10k ROM module is a RAMROM 2022 Board. Atari 800 and RAMROM 2022 Board not included...of course.
Note: Boards are made on an as-needed basis. In some instances, it may take a couple business days for the chips to arrive so I can finish assembly.
Note: An optional DS1210 chip and CR2032 battery can be installed so the Axlon compatible memory will be retained when the power is off. Both the chip and battery are supplied by the user. After installing the chip, both jumpers, on the back, will need to be removed.
