Vulnerability Assessment & Network Security Forums

This website serves as a resource for network security and information technology professionals to browse and search through a comprehensive open source database of vulnerabilities.  Each record contains details on the network security issue or vulnerability and suggestions on how to patch and secure the software or hardware involved. Discussions on each vulnerability test to discuss methods for patching and false positives is encouraged.

A comprehensive network security policy including routine vulnerability assessments is essential.  Due to the increasing sophistication of intruder methods and the vulnerabilities present in many applications, it is imperative to regularly assess network security. A variety of vulnerability identification tools are available.  The Nessus Vulnerability Assessment scanner is an open source application that provides excellent network security assessments when properly used.  If through a vulnerability assessment, a network security issue is detected, applying the appropriate security patches in a timely matter is imperative.  If you detect that your system has already been compromised, following CERT's Network Security recovery document will assist with recommended steps for system recovery.

There are currently 14,206 vulnerabilities in the database.
