The bearings lock on your 3/4\" shaft with set screws on each side if the wheel.

Total width outside to outside:
-With 1/2\" bearings 2.720\" total width or .7825, ( just over 3/4\"), past each side of the wheel rim-( item # 151338345250)

-With 3/4\" bearings 2.546\" total width or .609, (just shy of 5/8\"), past each side of the wheel rim-(this listing)
-Custom bearing sizes available, inquire.
-Inset bearings that are recessed from wheel rim and flush with wheel body are available and more expensive. Inquire.

- 70A duro. A 70A durometer hardness is what 95% of the knife makers are using for their contact grinding wheels.

- The terminology used for wheels of \"contact wheel,\" \"idler wheel\", and \"drive wheel\" can be confusing.

Here is how I use those terms:

-Contact wheel- the lower wheel in a set up and is used for hollow grinding. It may be either a driven or idler wheel, depending on your set up. If it is an idler it will either have bearings in it so it may spin on a fixed shaft or be keyed to a shaft that spins. -Idler wheel- A wheel that has bearings in it, ( item 111294057640 for 3/4\" shaft or item # 151338345250 for a 1/2\" shaft ) or that is mounted on a shaft that spins in bearings and is driven by the sanding belt, not shaft or motor

-Drive wheel -A wheel that does not have bearings in it and is secured to the shaft, either directly to a motor shaft or to a shaft driven by a pulley or coupling. The drive wheel is often keyed to the shaft with a 3/16\" woodruff or square key. That is item # 111046097782 Drive wheels never have bearings in them.
