Vintage Tandon 8" Half Height Flexible Disk Drive. This drive is being sold as is as I have not tested it.
Double Sided or Single Sided?Note: There is little information on the Internet for is particular model as opposed to the earlier Tandon TM848-1 & TM848-2 (belt drive) and TM848-1E & TM848-2E (direct drive) models. While this is a direct drive model (see photos) a post on the Vintage Computer Federation Forums concluded that this model (TM848E) is a single sided drive - however, in examining the drive in this listing I found wiring for two heads at connectors P8 and P9 (see photos). A single sided TM848-1 that I purchased new (many years ago) has head wires at only P8. To be sure, I carefully removed the screws holding the PCB in place and peeked under the board. The cables from P8 and P9 do indeed connect to heads on both the top and bottom of the head assemble (see photos). Please read the post on VCFED, look at the above photos and offer accordingly.
This drive will ship with a diskette inserted and the drive door closed unless you request otherwise.
