Many years ago I had the opportunity to buy several Commodore items from a warehouse in Ontario. The items consisted mostly of NOS and store display pieces. This came from that purchase. Offered here is a RARE Vintage Commodore CBM8050 DUAL Disk Drive that was issued by Commodore in the early 80s. This was the most popular drive at the time for businesses because of its decent storage capacity and reasonable cost (compared to the 8250 or 4040 drives offered) Nice middle of the line drive. This drive was designed to be used with the Pet-Series computers but will work fine with the B series as well. Even a C64 or Vic 20 if you have an IEEE cartridge. The physical condition of the drive is Excellent. It is obvious when you look at it that it was used very little. Likely a store display or demonstration model. It also comes with its original box and interior packaging. The interior of the drive looks NEW. The unit powers on fine and completes the self test as it should. This drive; as several items from the purchase comes with its original box (very RARE as most boxes were tossed). I tested the drive to a limited degree. Both drives read a directory. All I could find for a test disk was an 8250 compatible disk I recently used to test a 1001 drive. I do not think they are completely compatible. With this disk I could read directories but was unable to load a program. Could be a non compatible disk, could be that the drive needs some tweaking and or lubrication. This was the first time the drive had been turned on in nearly 20 years. I remember testing it when I got it and it worked fine. However I cannot be certain so I am selling this AS IS Parts or REPAIR. Please offer accordingly. This drive is in excellent condition and will make a prestigious addition to any collection. There are few collectors who own one of these still in the package! It has been stored in a dry place for many years. May need cleaning or small adjustments to function properly - unsure.
