The advanced management module is a hot-swap enabled module, which you can use to configure all BladeCenter components installed and to manage. In the delivery State, the BladeCenter S chassis has an advanced management module in the position provided. The advanced management module provides system management functions and KVM-multiplexing for all Blade Server in the BladeCenter S chassis, the KVM (keyboard/video/mouse keyboard/screen/mouse) support. It controls the following connections:

    Serial port for local connection to another computer, such as a notebook computer
    External screen and USB ports for keyboard and mouse
    10/100 MB/s Ethernet connection

The advanced management module communicates with the service processor (also: Baseboard Management controller, BMC) in each Blade Server and it supports features such as blade server power requirements, error and event reporting, KVM requests and requirements for use of the shared drive carriage of the BladeCenter S chassis.
