Delidded Intel Xeon 3.20 GHz Quad X5672 IHS Removed for 2009 4,1 Mac Pro Upgrade:
$220.00

This listing is for a matched pair of delidded Intel Xeon X5672 3.20 GHz Quad (4) Core Processors for use in a 2009 dual CPU Mac Pro. They have been running perfectly stable and screaming fast in my 2009 Mac Pro. They are a HUGE boost in performance over the 2.26GHz processors that come stock in these Mac Pros.If you want to squeeze extra performance out of your 2009 dual CPU Mac Pro, this is the way to go. These are typical benchmarks you will see when upgrading to these processors:
Geekbench v3.4.1 2729 single-core sore, 21627 multi-core scoreGeekbench v4.0.4 2837 single-core sore, 17069 multi-core scoreCinebench R15 score: 1061 cb*All benchmarks were preformed with all 6 sticks of RAM, but 8 sticks were also tested to check for stability.
I guarantee even if you are using these processors in a production Mac Pro you will not have any thermal or stability issues once you upgrade to these. 30 day guarantee. Purchase with confidence.
BackgroundWhen I chose to upgrade my Mac, I painstakingly researched the options and ultimately decided to remove the lids. The biggest risk in upgrading with delidded processors is actually removing the lids, but I\'ve done the hard work for you. Popping these in your system takes less than a half hour your first time doing it. Message me before or after the sale if you have any questions or need any help. With delidded processors you don\'t need to mess around with washers, feeling the screws engage and counting the exact number of turns, or modifying the fan connectors. This is a fast, hassle free, and reliable upgrade. If you do not feel comfortable removing your heatsinks, please check out my other listings for these processors already installed in CPU tray.
DetailsThis listing is for a matched PAIR of Intel Xeon X5672 3.20 GHz Quad (4) Core Processors. They have been running perfectly stable and screaming fast in my 2009 Mac Pro about a month. To date, I\'ve removed over a dozen lids. I\'ve perfected the process. All residual solder on the CPU die has been completely stripped off. It’s hard to tell from the photos, but there is a mirror finish on the CPU die smooth enough to read text in the reflection. This creates a nice clean interface with the heatsink and thermal compound of your choice. You can see the reflection of my Canon camera in one of the photos.
Fine Print***De-lidding is only necessary on a dual CPU board 2009 Mac Pro 4,1. If you have a 2010 Mac Pro you don’t need to use these delidded processors. If you have a 2009 single CPU Mac Pro, you don’t need to use these delidded processors.
***Prior to upgrading to these processors, you must perform a firmware upgrade so your 2009 4,1 will recognize these faster Westmere processors. It’s a fairly straightforward process that takes less than 5 minutes. I’d be happy to help you with that if you message me after the sale.
***You’ll also need at least a 4” long 3mm Allen Wrench to remove the heatsinks and thermal compound. I recommend using Arctic MX-4. A 4 gram tube of this is available on Amazon for around $8. MX-4 contains no metallic particles so there won’t be any issue if you apply too much and it contacts any electrical components around the die. 91% or better isopropyl alcohol and Q-tips are also needed to remove the existing thermal paste from the heatsink.
Let me know if you have any questions. I will ship these out Priority Mail within 24 hours of receiving your payment. Thanks for looking.
