Apple II, IIgs adapter for using up to two Atari Joysticks:
$44.99

If you are like us you have a bunch of Atari compatible joysticks lying around and no way to use them on your Apple IIe, IIc, or IIgs computer. Look no further for a great option to allow you to use those joysticks on your Apple II machines!
The joystick adapter plugs directly into the joystick port on the back of your Apple IIe, IIc, or IIGS with the included cable. If you have an Apple II or Apple II+ you would need an adapter that converts the internal 16 pin joystick expansion to the 9-pin D-sub like on the back of the IIe. The adapter works in digital mode and is not for analog style joysticks. It would not work with a game that only works with an analog joystick.
You can connect two Atari style joysticks for two player gaming like with a game like Archon. We also have access to the second fire button on the joystick port for player 1 on pin nine of that joystick port. So if you have a joystick that supports a second fire button on pin nine, you can use that. Our Joy2B+ joystick supports this for those looking for the ability to have two unique fire buttons on the player one port for games like Karateka that use one button for punch and one for kick. It should be of note that the second fire button on player one is only for single player games not using the second joystick.
We also make a two button arcade style joystick that plugs directly into the Apple IIe/IIc/IIgs game port and doesn't require any adapter. Links to our store for both the Joy2B+ joystick and the direct connect Apple II joystick of ours are as follows.
  • Our Apple II two button arcade joystick if you want a joystick to plug directly into your Apple II and skip the need for the adapter
  • Our Joy2B+ Atari joystick compatible with this adapter and supporting a second fire button on pin nine

  • Size of case is 3 1/4" wide, 2 3/4" length, 1" tall (84mm wide, 69mm length, 24mm tall).
NOTE!If you have an Apple IIGS or any Apple II system running at a higher clock rate and you find the game doesn't seem to work properly with the adapter, you will want to reduce the operating speed to the normal 1MHz of the Apple II systems. On a IIGS this is selectable in the IIGS control panel. Most games have joystick timing loops that require a standard 1MHz Apple system to function properly.
This item is for the adapter and the cable to connect to your 9-pin game port on an Apple IIe, IIc, or IIgs. No joystick is included.
