Check for the version of the libast package Detailed Explanation for this Vulnerability Assessment The remote host is missing the patch for the advisory MDKSA-2006:029 (libast). Buffer overflow in Library of Assorted Spiffy Things (LibAST) 0.6.1 and earlier, as used in Eterm and possibly other software, permits local users to execute arbitrary code as the utmp user via a long -X argument. The updated packages have been patched to correct this issue.
