This is an AMD Am486 CPU rated at 100MHz (33MHz FSB), designed for use in a Socket 3 motherboard supporting 3.3V CPUs. This CPU has been tested in a late era PCI 486 system, and successfully boots to Windows 95 with drivers loaded.Lots of the ceramic engraving was lifted off when I got this CPU, so it's kind of difficult to make out what everything says on there. The manufacture date code, especially, isn't legible, but I'd wager this was manufactured sometime in 1996 - further supported by the newer "Designed for Windows 95" emblem. I specifically followed a jumper configuration pertaining to the SV8B model to confirm it.This CPU supports write back caching, which is faster than the traditional write through caching method typically found in earlier 486 CPUs. The use of write back caching is typically controlled by a jumper on your motherboard if the feature is supported, but it may also be possible to toggle it via the BIOS setup utility. Jumpers can also be used to toggle between its standard 3x clock multiplier (100MHz), or 2x (66MHz). Even so, you can still toggle CPU speed on the fly using a turbo switch on a chassis if available.Some of the contact pins are slightly bent, but the CPU can insert into a low insertion force socket without much trouble; just don't use excessive force. You will need to install a heatsink at minimum in order for the CPU to operate with complete stability; getting one with a fan is highly recommended. Many 486 coolers are designed to clip onto the CPU directly.This CPU will be attached to some foam to protect the pins, and it will be packed in an ESD bag wrapped in bubble wrap.
