Price was higher than I expected. Product was not available in my preferred color black. Received product is as it was described online. Although estimated arrival was later than I wanted delivery arrived as scheduled.

Not exactly what I was looking for but the item is as described in the fine print. Not really sure what "pure nickel steel" is intended to imply but it is nickel plated steel. I saw "pure nickel" and ordered it. That's on me but the seller should state what it is clearly. Irritating but it's my fault for not reading carefully.

  • A wonderful CPU

A great CPU, fast and reliable. I tested it at clock speeds of up to 3.6 GHz and it preforms without issue under stress. Only downside is that it runs very hot at 100% usage even at low frequencies, although I understand it was designed to safely tolerate core temperatures of up to 80 C* or more, a performant custom cooler is still recommended. The bios offers a base clock multiplier ranging between 16x and 24x (25x with Intel Turbo Boost) offering a wide variety of frequency steps for the system to work with. I recommend it for servers and desktops alike.

  • Great upgrade for a MacPro

This a a fairly easy upgrade for a MacPro. You'll also need some Arctic Silver grease and a long-handled hex wrench. With the faster clock speed and two extra cores my own MacPro now runs about 70% faster in CPU-intensive tasks. An upgrade like this used to cost hundreds of dollars and didn't seem worth it but a used Xeon CPU completely changed the economics.

  • Fast and Cool

Runs well in a Mac Pro 4,1single CPU. Geekbench 4 Scores - Single Core 8850, Multicore 12900. Thus a 20% improvement on single core score and 50% on multi. Marginally warmer than original CPU in heavy tests but in general use no difference.

  • Great chips for the price!

This thing is pretty old now, but if you throw it in to replace a quad core i7 / xeon in an aging system it can literally double its performance. In multicore tasks they still outperform most modern $100+, 4core/8thread cpus, and the much newer e3 xeon quad cores, which are literally a joke, being basically expensive i5s.

  • 6 cores and 3.2Ghz

Fast CPU even with modern competition (2017) and plenty of cores for today computing. I recommend either Kubuntu or linux mint with KDE.
