Here is the last of a long line of terminals by Digital Equipment Corp. (DEC). The VT510 terminal was relased in 1993 at a lower cost than DEC\'s existing VT420 and VT340 terminals when the market was starting to flood with low cost PCs that could run terminal emulation software. The VT510 is a 14\" black and white monitor with a PS/2 port for the keyboard, a parallel port, and the usual DB25 serial ports . The DEC LK411-A keyboard is essentially the same as the LK401 except for the PS/2 connector at the end of the cable.
DEC sold their terminal business to Boundless Technologies, who kept making VT500 series terminals until 2003. This one dates from May of 1996. The LK411 keyboard is older, and does not have a Boundless logo.
I did not receive the tilt/swivel base for the monitor. It powers on consistently, and the brightness and contrast controls work.
The keyboard has a few deep gouges in the case top and a few keycaps in the center. However, every key bounces back up normally after it is pressed. I have given it only a light cleaning and did not open up its case. When you plug this keyboard into the monitor, the self test proceeds with no errors. (The picture with the keyboard error was taken with no keyboard connected).Local pickup in zip code 60438 is free. Shipping rates are calculated by without any fee for handling or packing materials. I will tightly wrap the monitor in cardboard, and then in bubblewrap before placing it in a large outer box, with spacers.
