Up for sale is a lightly used OmniNAS Shuttle KD20 Network Attached Storage ( NAS) /Media server, with two securely erased Seagate 3.0 GB 7200 RPM drives (ST3000DM001). This is a 2-Bay NAS that supports single/dual3.5” HD in RAID 0, RAID 1, JBOB, or Single drive use mode.
By lightly used, I mean it was used 1x a month for a 14-hourcontinuous period to archive large quantities of inventory data on a Windows 7desktop PC.
This NAS, as sold, has an operational configuration in place (see photos). I expect the new owner to reconfigure it. My photos show that the unit was functional and working. I kindly suggest that the buyer use the existing installed KD20 firmware and create a functional configuration. Once you confirm you are operational feel free to try other firmware versions. Initially, I struggled with OmniNAS firmware finding versions that were not fully operational.
The OnmiNAS, its two trays, its AC-Adapter, 2x 3TB Seagate Drives and a CD with OnmiNAS Quick start, User Manual, KD20 Firmware Updates.doc,OmniNAS_Finder.exe, and a backup of the firmware that originally came with the unit.
Note: NAS tray Photo shows user modification : A simple modification was made to this KD20 to make it quieter for our office environment. The 3.5” hard drive trays are metal and they slide into a metal chassis. The hard drives generate rotational vibration and that was causing the metal drive trays to vibrate against the metal chassis. It was annoying to my office mates. I used thin strips of self-stick green felt that you find on the bottoms of table lamps to line small sections of the exterior sides of the disk trays. That stopped the vibration. The only downside is that the trays fit tighter into the chassis so you have to wiggle them out.
The Door Latch… I just noticed that the front panel door will no longer stay latched shut. The latch is spring loaded and was push to latch then push again to unlatch. I do not know if it something simple to fix, it stays open 1/8”.One of the photos below shows a plastic tab with beveled top and bottom, that is the latch.
