They fit in the PCIe slots on a server or desktop and can do 1 Gbps, 10 Gbps, or 25 Gbps per port depending on the SFP transceiver you use. Mellanox cards have a specific offload chip that allows them to be lower latency and use less CPU resources when processing traffic. These are an excellent choice for homelab, datacenter, telco, or SDN environments.
