This huge vintage lantern was recently removed from a cabin in northwestern Wisconsin.It was likely used either by a regional railroad or one of the early logging camps that dotted the area.It is roughly 22 inches tall not including the hanging bail with a diameter of14 inches.This is one of the largest lamps made by Dietz . It was produced in the Syracuse, New York factory and has a 1931 cold blast patent . The lantern is complete with all parts including the burner using a 1.5 inch wick,a bail handle,the original number 3 glass Dietz embossed shade and the fueling cap.The fueling cap opens and closes easily . The wick handle turns but could use some lubrication.It has some paint loss,but most of the original green paint remains with some slight surface rust . This is a classic early 20th century kerosene lantern straight from a rural cabin in northern Wisconsin.This is a fragile object (heavy, too).It will be packed as a fragile object deserves.
