Zenith Tombstone Radio 1937 10-S-130:
$816.78

Here\'s a Zenith model 10-S-130 big black dial tombstone radio, from 1937. It\'s as-found, all original, and complete except for two of the small knobs.

If you know Zenith radios, you know the rarity completely overcomes the rather forlorn appearance you see in the photos. Or you can google \"Zenith 10-S-130\" and see for yourself.

This set is one of the biggest tombstone radios Zenith made in the pre-WWII era, with a very nice deco cabinet design. It has 10 tubes, including push-pull 6L6 outputs. It has the target-type tuning eye meter.

This set is in fair condition and will need electronic and cosmetic restoration. Other than the missing knobs, it will need new grill cloth, and cabinet veneer repair and refinishing.

The speaker will need reconing but the speaker transformer checks out ok - note that this is the extremely rare 49-146AB speaker, unique to this set and essentially unavailable.

The dial glass and remaining knobs (including the unique tuning knob) are in good condition. I have not checked any other electronic components, but it\'s evident that this set has never been tampered with or \"repaired\" or blown up - the line cord failed long ago and nobody spliced a new one, so the power transformer may have survived unscathed. It uses the type 1004 Zenith chassis.

These sets are straightforward to restore electronically, and are great performers. It is large - 23\" x 16\" x 13\" - and weighs over 40 pounds, so local pickup in the SF bay area is preferred. I will be driving to LA in early August and could also meet the buyer there (after a purchase commitment).

Restored, these very desirable and rare sets sell for over $1500, probably second in desirability only to the 12-S-232 \"Walton\" in Zenith tabletop models. Here\'s your chance at one for a lot less, if you have a bit of elbow grease to make up the difference.

This is an antique item, and as such this must be an as-is sale, with no returns.  I am experienced in packing fragile and antique items, to help assure that it gets to you in the same condition that you see here.

Thanks for looking, and good luck with your offers.
