This is a must-have open pontil patent medicine for any truly serious collector! This is a superlative example of a very early 19th century American vermifuge bottle, the contents of which were formulated to expel parasitic worms from the human body. I consider this to be one of the rarest vermifuges in existence after having collected bottles in this category for over 40 years. This particular bottle is very, very rarely offered up for sale anywhere due to its great scarcity. The bottle is oval, pale green, 3 3/4\", heavily whittled, BIM with a hand tooled flared thin lip finish and great stretch marks in the neck, and with a deep open pontil scar! It is embossed on one side panel\"DR. SNYDER\'S/OL. EXT. OF/RED CEDAR.\"and on the opposite side panel \"DEATH ON WORMS!!\" (notice the double exclamation points put there to emphasize the killing action of this medicinal product). The bottle is bright and shiny throughout. There is a tiny chip immediately adjacent to the pontil which I believe was most likely formed at the time the pontil rod was removed from the base of the bottle which was a common occurrence on many open pontil bottles. You absolutely cannot afford to pass up this opportunity to acquire this wonderful piece of American history! I will gladly reduce postage costs when multiple bottles are purchased together.
