Fabulous Antique Mahogany & Brass Camera by Midland Camera Company Ltd, No Lens:
$214.16

This is a stunning example of a late Victorian antique mahogany and brass 1/4 plate camera made by the Midland Camera Company Ltd of Birmingham, a company that was taken over by Thornton Pickard in 1912 following its liquidation. The company was incorporated as a limited company in 1899 and this camera has a serial number of 25, making it an early model falling into the late Victorian era. Although it does not have a lens included it is complete and fully functional in every other respect. There is a rotating tripod head on the base and three numbered book style double dark slide holders included all in excellent condition. There is a little dark staining of a few of the brass fittings - I am pointing to one example in the last picture - that seem to have resulted from a small chemical leakage many years ago but this is purely cosmetic and does not affect the functioning. The size of photographic plate is 4.25 x 3.25 inches and the threaded hole for the lens is 1.5 inches diameter. When folded up it measures approximately 7 x 6.5 inches and about 3 inches front to back. The bellows are in very good undamaged condition and the extension mechanism is completely operational.
