BIG~DR.GUYSOTT\'S YELLOW DOCK& SARSAPARILLA JOHN.D.PARK CINCINNATI.O.~IRON PONTIL:

WELCOME & thanks for stopping by. OK,..so this very impressive,mid-1800\'s bottle is a BIG (10 inch)and beefy (4 1/4 across the base) iron pontilled Ohio medicine; and is by FAR, the absolute BEST example of aDRGUYSOTTSthat I have ever seen. Certainlynot an extremely rare bottle, but these large pontilled (looks like a red iron pontil) medicines are comparatively scarce in my opinion and don\'t pop up all that often. But now, when you\'re talking about a truly KILLER example like this one, in original, un-dug,un-cleaned/never tumbled and very near pristine, gem mint perfect condition that has been sitting on someone\'s shelf in a private collection for a VERY LONG time (see dust pile in photo #6), THEN you\'re looking at an extremely scarce to rare example which also has some nice depth to the color. In some pics it\'s looking like deep, rich, bluish aqua and in others it\'s looking more Ice blue. But a good buddy of mine, who was just trying to be helpful, mentioned that if I could somehow \"tweak\" the color just a bit, I\'d probably do a lot betteron the final price. So since I could use the money, I decided to take his advice and gave it my best try. I used what he likes to call the \"Jersey effect\" and you can see in the second photo, how I tried making the bottle look green.( ;Well, that really didn\'t work out too welland so I decided to try again in the third photo by attemptingto make the bottle look puce. As you can see, that attempt also failed. So I just gave up and went with the TRUE color in photo #4, but it does fluctuate a bit depending on the light. I didn\'t show any photos of the un-embossed side, but you can certainly trust that it looks every bit as nice as the front, only plainer. There\'s barely a mark on this piece and you can see just how strong and BOLD the embossingis. The glass blower must\'ve had a real good set of lungs, because this bottle has an OUTSTANDING moldimpression and he must have blown so hard that there had been a good amount of glass that had squeezed its way through the mold seam. Because in photo #8, you should be able to see where it had come through and was quickly sheared away while the glass was still very hot, leaving behind a sort of \"scar\". Which only adds to and enhances the crudeness factor. This beauty is GUARANTEED to be a TOP shelf example with NO damage whatsoever, and I\'m positive that the winning buyer willbe more than pleased to add it to their collection. So if you\'re looking for the BEST, this one is probably it!! Please examine all the photos carefully as they tooare to be considered part of the description. Note that in photo #7, the Guysotts is shown next to avery rare, bluish aqua Dr. F. Fleschhut\'s Celebrated Stomach Bitters for the purposes of color comparison. The Fleschhut\'s is not included with this sale; however all questions/inquiries are welcome.
and BEST of LUCK to you!!
