MEAGHER LARGE FORMAT MAHOGANY CAMERA BRASS TAILBOARD WHOLE PLATE CAMERA wetplate/dryplate c.1875/1880s. It is quite feasible if you so wished for this camera to be converted to stereo! One of the top camera manufacturers of the Victorian age. Please find a Meagher Tailboard Mahogany Brass Camera Whole Plate c. 1875/1880s comes to the market for the first time since the 1900s. This camera was used for many years in a London Photographic Studio and has been stored away for more than 80 years. In that time it has seen no use whatsoever and therefore has maintained a remarkable condition. The Honduran mahogany still has a beautiful patina as does its original lens. The lens has stops of f8, f11, f16, f22, f32, f44 and f64. The glass on the lens is in a very good condition with no obvious marks or damage. This camera could quite easily be converted to stereo use if you so wished!Bearing in mind the bellows are 140 odd years old, there are some very small tears on some of the creases or folds in the leather. These would easily be repaired if the camera was bought to use. However, this is an antique and this sale is for an antique camera for the collector.
The camera measures overall 11 1/2\" x 11\" x 17\". The plate size is 8 1/2\" x 6 1/2\". There are no plates supplied with this camera. There are 11 photographs which form part of the description and if you examine them you will see what a beautiful camera this is.If you have any questions, please ask.
My apologies for thepostal costs but when the camera is packed it weighs 5 kilos. The postage is Europe £67.50, North America £90.25 and Australia/New Zealand, China/Japan £100.10.
Please note this is an antique and is sold as such with age and faults and as seen, no returns! - it\'s 140 years old approx so should be purchased with that in mind for collectors or the connoisseur. If purchased for use, then it would be up to the buyer to make a judgment before purchase.
