This is a very nice example of a very uncommon navy deck lantern. It was manufactured in The Dietz Syracuse factory in July of 1921. (S-7-21 in the stamping) Pre-WWII. 


All brass versions of this lantern are difficult to find as they didn\'t make a lot of them, the use/abuse that they saw, and the relative softness of the brass as can be seen in the stress cracks (two most prominent ones in the crown as pictured). 


That being said this one is in wonderful condition. In addition to the stress cracks there\'s two dings in the base. The original glass is in excellent condition. The burner turns great. All the wires are straight and no dents in the top or the tubes. 


The lantern stands 11\" tall, 17\" to the top of the bail.
