I added a few more photos of the racer. I would call its condition mint except for one small scratch on the front of the racer near the number 9. It clearly has not been played with; it appears to have spent its life in its terrific original box. The box is great, the waving race car driver on the front is such a wonderful image. There is a price tag from the Montgomery Ward store on the side of the box as seen in photo #9. The friction motor works very well, like new. The sparkler still works; you have to rev the friction motor a few times to get it going but it does work fine.. The surface of the tin is bright and glossy and the litho is very sharp. The box is in very good condition. There is a little wear to the bottom of the box on one side but the top is still square with all its corners intact. This is a very hard to find race car with a great original box. Thanks for looking!!!
On Feb-01-15 at 05:23:21 PST, seller added the following information:************I wanted to add one more photo to the listing. I have been trying all week to find a good reference photo to add to my listing. When a toy is somewhat obscure, it always helps to have an image of that toy from a reference book or web site. I looked through at least 50 old toy sale catalogs.... Smith House, Christmas Morning, and a few of the other invaluable reference catalogs from the 1990\'s. I finally found one really small, grainy image from a 1998 Smith House price guide; it is a book gathering all the sales for the year. That image can be seen in photo #12. The race car in the image is missing the engine block cover but you can see the close similarity between this racer and the much more common \"Special Racer\" also made by T.N. As far as I can tell, this is a pretty hard to find race car. That photo was certainly hard to find! If anyone has a better image of the car I would love to have a copy. Thanks again for looking!!!*************
