WET / DRY VERY EARLY TAILBOARD STEREO CAMERA

circa 1870 - 75

Victorian era wet/dry plate extremely rare tailboard mahoganycamera in museum condition.
Very early, way to set the focal length similar as in the sliding box cameras.
Very high quality mahogany, connected to the pins, the original French varnish.
Bellows in excellent condition.Mahogany looks like a Spanish and has a beautiful grain in the panels.

In front and back are notches for fixing the septum.The septum is attached.

The camera has an ivorine plaque which reads:

Camera- (wood, brassandbellows) and lenses in EXCELLENTcondition.

Two rare lenses, probably J. H. Dallmeyer

One rare mono lens Ross 9 x 7 Rapid Symmetrical No. 42564

Dimensionwith extended bellows: 38 cm. x 26 cm. x 20 cm.

Camera comes with 3 lenses, 2 lensboards, stereo septum, one mahogany

double sided (8 x 5 inch) plate holder and original big (41 cm x 33 cm x 28 cm.)photographic wooden chest.

Used, with beautiful patina of age, complete, working and ... very beautiful !
