A Quality Antique Radio Makes The Perfect Christmas Gift!

Nothing compares to thedesign, performance, and quality of a Zenith radio. And this is one is noexception. The highly desirable 1941 model 6-S-527 table radio featuring astunning walnut cabinet, attractive black and gold dial, elegant inlays, automaticpushbutton tuning, wood grill louvers, loop antenna, and excellent performanceon the AM broadcast and shortwave bands.

Cabinet:The American walnut cabinet is simply beautiful. A rich swirling grain flowsthroughout the front and sides, contrasted beautifully by elegant inlays and blond pinstripes. Wood grill louvers, as well as wood dial trim, add a nice touch. The classy gold escutcheon, that surrounds the pushbuttons, reminds you of the stylish details Zenithput into their radios. Dark walnut tonesand jet black trim finish the cabinet off perfectly. This beauty is sure to bethe highlight of any room in the home or office you choose to display itin.

Dial/Knobs:You won’t find this uniquedial on too many Zenith radios, as they only used iton a select few models. It features a black background with a gold mirrorcenter. The broadcast band is located on the bottom of the dial, and the shortwave band along with many foreign countrynames forreference, islocated at the top. A large Z pointer is housed directly inthe center. The dial is illuminated by two new dial lamps and lights nice andbright. All letters and numbers on the dial are legible and show little signsof wear. All 5 pushbuttons are in great shape and functional. However it isrecommended that you use the manual tuning knob due to the delicacy of the autotuning mechanism. If you do choose to use the pushbuttons, they will need to bepre-set to your local stations. All three ivory Zknobs are in excellent condition and work as follows, on/off & volume, bandswitch, and tuning.

Station Call Letters/Tabs: The 1930’s stylestation call letters and control tabs are a fine reproduction featuring a black background with white lettering. These call letters/tabscan also be purchased separately onour other sales.

Electronics/Chassis: All tubes in the 6 tube chassis were tested with any weak tubes being replaced. All caps, filters, and resistors were checked and replaced as needed. All brittle or bare wiring was replaced or re-insulated. The chassis has been cleaned, lubed, and re-aligned for optimal performance. I\'m able to pick up many stations, near and far, on the AM broadcast and shortwave bands using just the loop antenna. The radio produces deep rich tone and plenty of volume. An additional copper line antenna will beincludedin case it is needed for stronger reception, especially for shortwave.

The Cabinet’s Finish & Restoration Process: Our Radio cabinets undergo avigorous restoration process. Our goal is to maintain the natural beauty of thewood and grain, while providing a deep luster and shine. We achieve this byremoving all the old and worn lacquers and stains. We then sand the cabinetwith fine grit pads down to the original bare wood. Nicks, chips, and blemishesare filled and/or blended. Any loose veneer is re-secured. We make sure any fillerapplied or repairs made are blended nicely and do not detract from the beautyof the set unless otherwise noted. New stains and sealers are applied by hand.We continue by using many coats of Mohawk brand lacquers and toners applied inthe same manner as when the radio was originally finished in the factory. Weuse a nitrocellulose piano lacquer which is applied through a professional HVLPturbine spray system in a climate controlled room. Nitrocellulose lacquer isvery thin. We also apply very thin coats. This allows the lacquer to seep intothe grain and not cover it up. A fine grit wet sanding follows every third coatalong with a polishing process and ending with an Oz glaze rub. Many hours ofwork are put into the radios, but as you can see, the final outcome is abeautiful, natural looking cabinet with gorgeous luster& shine. Our radiosare a great piece of history that come to you ready to proudly display, as wellas listen to, in any room of the home or office.
