Cabinet:The dark walnut cabinet is just beautiful. Gorgeouswood grain flows throughout the entire set. A large wrap around grill adds anice Art Deco appeal while allowing for optimal sound from the speaker. It allcomes together magnificently with the large, lighted black dial surrounded byall the pushbuttons and tone controls. What a terrific sight that Zenith wasso famous for capturing. Jet black trim and an elegant gold escutcheon finish thecabinet off perfectly. This highly sought after beauty is sure to turn heads nomatter which room in the home or office you choose to display it in.

Dial/Knobs:Just look at that spectacular black dial surroundedby numerous tone and automatic tuning controls. Quite the ‘eye catcher’! It isilluminated by two new dial lamps and displays all the station frequencies forthree separate bands (AM broadcast, now defunct police, and shortwave), as well as country names for shortwave reference. Whitearrow indicators, located on the bottom of the dial, let you know which bandyou are currently listening to. All numbers and letters on the dial are legibleand show virtually no signs of wear. The sleek ‘Z’ pointer moves nice andsmooth across the dial. A large gold escutcheon surrounds the dial and housesvarious tone controls to the right, as well as automatic tuning controls to theleft. The dial glass is clear and free from any chips, breaks, or cracks. Allknobs are in excellent shape and work as follows; band switch, manual tuning,on/off and volume.

Grill Cloth:The 1930’s style grill cloth is a fine reproduction featuring a whiskey goldcolor with an Art Deco geometric design. The station call letters are also finereproductionswith a black background, white lettering, and done on a heavycardstock for durability. This grill cloth and call letterscan also be purchased separately on our other sales.

Electronics/Chassis: All tubes in the powerful 7 chassis were tested with any weak tubes being replaced. All caps, filters, and resistors were checked and replaced as needed. All brittle or bare wiring was replaced or re-insulated. The chassis has been cleaned, lubed, and re-aligned for optimal performance. I\'m able to pick up many stations, near and far, across the AM broadcast and shortwave bands with deep rich tone and plenty of volume using just the loop antenna. Additional copper line antenna is also included for optimal shortwave reception.

The Cabinet’s Finish & Restoration Process: Our Radio cabinets undergo avigorous restoration process. Our goal is to maintain the natural beauty of thewood and grain, while providing a deep luster and shine. We achieve this byremoving all the old and worn lacquers and stains. We then sand the cabinetwith fine grit pads down to the original bare wood. Nicks, chips, and blemishesare filled and/or blended. Any loose veneer is re-secured. We make sure any fillerapplied or repairs made are blended nicely and do not detract from the beautyof the set unless otherwise noted. New stains and sealers are applied by hand.We continue by using many coats of Mohawk brand lacquers and toners applied inthe same manner as when the radio was originally finished in the factory. Weuse a nitrocellulose piano lacquer which is applied through a professional HVLPturbine spray system in a climate controlled room. Nitrocellulose lacquer isvery thin. We also apply very thin coats. This allows the lacquer to seep intothe grain and not cover it up. A fine grit wet sanding follows every third coatalong with a polishing process and ending with an Oz glaze rub. Many hours ofwork are put into the radios, but as you can see, the final outcome is abeautiful, natural looking cabinet with gorgeous luster& shine. Our radiosare a great piece of history that come to you ready to proudly display, as wellas listen to, in any room of the home or office.
