AWonderful TRUE Roaring 20\'s trumpet that is in Great shape!

Oneof the last of the horns from Elkhart pre Buescher buyout!

Thisis an outstanding trumpet and a top-quality instrument by one of thetop brass makers in the 1920’s. This is an Elkhart made “TheElkhart”model trumpet. Elkhart was a great company that was startedby the leaders of Conn and Buescher in 1923. They operated and builtmany pro and intermediate model horns until 1928 when they werepurchased solely by Buescher. The Elkhart name was turned into theBuescher student line in the 1930’s. This trumpet was turned intothe 37B line and had a LOT of features changed. Look at theengraving, the slide adjuster, the extra pull slide and all slidesmarked for Bb and A playing, and the old pro style valves. Elkhartmade several models of brass through the mid 1930’s that are stillin use today because of their tone and sound qualities. This is oneof those horns! The bell is engraved “The Elkhart, Band InstrumentCo., Elkhart Indiana, USA”. The valves are numbered 1, 2, and 3with a serial number 12326 vertical on the second valve tube. Thatdates this beauty to about 1925. Many people refer to these horns as“peashooter” models since they are longer and more slender inbuild to a modern day trumpet. This gives the horn a unique look andfeel. I have had this horn for several years now and decided that itneeds to be seen and heard to keep that 1920\'s sound alive. So Idisassembled the horn and ultrasonic cleaned it then did a lot ofsmall dent work to get it smooth. The lead pipe was severely bent andI worked it to get it close to straight, but not perfect. There arejust a few small pings on the bell tube and slides left and waves onthe lead pipe. I believe this is one of the mellowest sounding hornsI have heard. It\'s in excellent mechanical condition - all the tuningslides work smoothly, including the first and third which are usuallyfrozen and require some kind of repair. All of the valve slides aretight and there are no missing pull tabs (rare in a used horn). Thevalves work freely and spring back into place with ease. They are theold Conn and Buescher pro bottom sprung design. They have new feltson the inside and outside. There is minimal wear on them and they arevery quiet for a horn that was made over 90 years ago. There are nobig dents in any of the tubing and as we said earlier, just a fewsmall pings and waves from normal wear. The bell engraving is as goodas the old King horns and is in great shape. THE HORN IS CONSTRUCTEDLIKE A TANK TO LIVE FOREVER!!! I played it for a while and it has thetrait of great 1920\'s trumpet sound (Melanie said I sound great onthis horn, lol, as always). The tone is full and mellow down low andremains focused as the horn climbs the staff. The horn plays verywell in all registers and maintains intonation well. It has the TRUEjazz sound of the early trumpet recordings. This was a great model inits day and still rivals any horn of today in Jazz! The trumpet comeswith a nice period medium cup mouthpiece. The piece has some wear butplays well. The case was thrown away long ago and I think the hornshould be displayed so I am not including one with the sale. Thereare gig bags available in almost every city if you need to carry itto gigs. This is your chance - why spend upwards of $600-900 for anew intermediate trumpet when you can pick this up for a lot lessthan that? Take a look...it’s a great horn for a student, intermediate player, comeback player, Pro, or collector. It is also agreat horn for someone who wants to experiment with the old TRUE Jazzsound! Winning buyer pays shipping of $21.00(Insured) in the lower48 states. Other shipping is per the chart.

Don’tmiss your chance to own a piece of Elkhart history. There aren’tmany of these left out there in nice shape!!!
