This is the first time wehave encountered this unusually formed bottle and it’s my sense that it’s arare one. When I first viewed the pieceI wondered if the lip had been modified but after careful inspection it appearsto be exactly as made.
Over the coming months wewill be listing many bottles from the collection of the late CarolAmbruster. Carol carefully assembled hercollection over a span of thirty years, selecting the best example of a givenbottle she could find. Any bottlesdamaged or cleaned were purchased only because a mint example was notavailable. Although she focusedprimarily upon Philadelphiabottles, Carol also collected other fine early bottles blown both here andabroad.Documentation
