Exquisite Plains Indian beaded knife sheath and hand forged knife. We are told this is a Lakota Sioux sheath/knife, but please do not assume this as fact, we are not versed in Native American artifacts. The sheath is some form of tanned animal hide, Deer, or perhaps Buffalo. The colorful beads are each sewn with sinew and the center of the sheath is adorned with approximately 14 tin cones. At the bottom are four tassels, each having tin cones spaced in rows, one per tassel. The knife is hand forged and thehandleis inset in the center with a pin and at each end with ribs. We do not know the type of metal used. It is well constructed, however has no markings. The sound the cones make when the sheath is moved is fascinating. This sheath and knife has been well cared for and respected as it should.
A nice addition to any collector of Native American artifacts.
CONDITION REPORT: Very good condition - Excellent. I believe there are no missing beads, and all appear to be very tightly secured. The knife, while showing useage, is also excellent. A finer example I think you will be hard pressed to find.
DIMENSIONS: Sheath is 9 1/4\", overall length with tassels is 17 1/2\"
