Even though this is an older board it is still a solid platform the cost of x79 cpus has fallen a lot lately and with the boards ability to use xenon processors you can have a solid 6 or even 8 core system for a reasonable price. My X79 system shows to be only 6% slower than my X99 system when matched on the same benchmark program. The X79 CPU's are also very good at overclocking and ASUS motherboards are the best for safe and stable over clocking. Unfortunately the case I am using for this build cannot hold 120 mm fans or liquid cooler radiators. So I will staying with air cooling. I will not be over clocking this system as much as my other liquid cooled systems. I went with the X79 platform as I needed at least 1 old standard PCI slot so that I could continue to use a high end but older PCI music card. This system was built to upgrade my rack mount music studio computer. Many people forget that a top of the line system from 2112 can still perform very well against average newer systems if they are maxed out with there best possible cpu and max ram.Read full review
