If you're looking for a powerful machine with a glorious 15" screen and NO numeric keypad, this is one to consider. It was the height of technology, when it was new. The screen is downright fantastic considering when it was made. It's isn't IPS, but it does have a pretty decent viewing angle anyways, and is very bright with outstanding color depth. If you're a Thinkpad person, you'll appreciate the keyboard which is great as always. It's different from the W520 in that it doesn't seem to have as much travel depth or "CA-CHUNK" feel, but I think it's still quite good. Also, there's a backlit keyboard option (WHY they didn't just make that standard....) whereas the W520 only has the old-school thinklight just at the top of the screen. Battery life is somewhat astonishing considering the CPU, which is no slouch, assuming you get the hefty 9-cell. I'd say a new battery gives you 4 to maybe 7 hours depending on screen brightness and what's you're running. The biggest downside to this machine is its weight, compounded by it's mighty power brick. Also, it's not pretty to look it (apart from the screen). But again, if you love the Thinkpad keyboards and hate number pads, this is the last of the generation that will get you a powerful laptop (even by today's standards) with a fantastic screen.Read full review

If buying a Precision workstation for CAD type work ensure you go for the Nvidia graphics card. In my opinion Nvidia is the leader for CAD work. If you are in the market for quality 2D, go for Matrox based in Canada. I am a fan of ATI but to be honest the two manufacturers above are hard to beat in their market. Regarding the Prevision mobile workstation M6600; Cons; It is heavy (4-5kg), the power pack is large and heavy. The native screen display is only 1980 (HD) with a battery life of 1.5 hours. So why would you buy it? Pros; It replaces a workstation desktop if quality components are (Nvidia graphics, SSD, i7 cpu) added. It is mobile you can carry it. It supports multi high res displays (I had two 2560 x 1600) and I have had a 43" 4K all with perfect results (so the tech was built to last). You can customise it, want a new faster SSD, replace the old one. Want a faster graphics card the same. Try doing that to the latest Macs or high end surface. Read full review
