I picked up 6 of these to go on Tyan S2927 motherboards, upgraded the bios to the newest one out, and added 32gbs of 667mhz ddr2. They are a dream come true. Ultra high definition video, gaming, anything is a piece of cake for these things. Give them a good DDR5 video card and you'll think your using a 10k dollar workstation. I added two H100 water coolers, and they run about 38c under full load, which is hard to do without bench-marking software. Under normal load they average 28c and lower. i thought about building myself a nice I7 machine, but why spend a couple thousand dollars on Asus boards and Intel CPUs if you don't have to. no to mention if you run Linux, you can run eight 6 core Opterons on one machine. That's 48 core at 2.6ghz.

i bought these chips to max out my workstation & see what it could do, these chips used in dual in a hp xw9400 workstation outperforms the intel quad core 2600k, for their era they were as good as it gets...i still use them though of course there are more powerful chips out there, i cannot say there is anything i dislike about these chips, i picked my pair(new) up for $120 each...so who can whinge...
Great
