So the thinkpad x1 carbon 7th gen laptop is quite the well rounded powerhouse. It's a processing beast, capable of multitasking several resource hungry apps or maybe just one really intensive application like audio synthesis and processing (fruityloops/audacity), graphics processing (gimp, etc). Fast and snappy action. Easy to work with. Fingerprint id is a nice touch with quick response for log in. Plus the fingerprint data is stored in the tpm security chip on the motherboard, so no way to hack the signature off the main drive. 1440p display is beautiful. Wifi and Bluetooth are top notch. Sound is excellent. The biggest point for new was the weight and battery. It's very light, less than the weight of a Sunday newspaper (do they even have those anymore?). Battery lasts FOREVER. Not kidding about this, you can close the lid to put it to sleep at 75%, let it sit for a week and then open the lid with 72% remaining still. Drive access is lightning fast, as is boot. Thunderbolt USB c is named that for a reason - 10Gbps in real world use is still lightning fast even with big files like movies. Love this laptop. As usual, Lenovo comes through with a beast flagship. The minimal housing design with carbon fiber top and magnesium alloy bottom is sleek and beautiful. Backlit keyboard is a nice touch.Read full review
