I own this and a TFM-35. The 35X is a noticeable improvement. It has ample current and can easily drive my Magnepans, know to be very power hungry speakers. If this were a car, there's plenty torque and horsepower, amount is one thing, quality is another. This sounds warmer than Rotel amplifiers, more analog and not so sterile. Compared to Sony ES amps, I prefer the ES liquidity and transparency. Moving to Parasound, it is not as transparent, with harmonics comes detail blurs, with a slower slew rate, comes slow response time, not as immediate. Imaging is lacking in the Carver, along with 3 dimensionality. All of my Parasound amps puts this amp to shame, Parasounds may be lower wattage rating, but they are also high current amplifiers. I have one HCA 1000a, an HCA-750 and quite a few ZAMP v3 and everyone of them out does this Carver in the detail and dimensionality department. They just get it "right". If you're hungry and looking for volume (Triple Whopper), this is your amp. But if you are looking for a rib eye steak...look elsewhere.Read full review

I own this amp and have to say it's just insanely clean. If you are thinking about getting it you should consider your speakers because the power is so overwhelming. I called Tekton and now have pendragons for a super clean sound stage.

The amp pushes my Rti-12s very well.

It's Carver, it's good.250 watts / channel of very clean, smooth power. One of the earlist with in-home theater technology. If you have efficient speakers, it will blow your house down. If you don't, it still might.

A very powerful amp that packs a serious punch! Runs warm but not hot after hours of listening to music.
