Nice gear to have if needed for emergency use or camping outdoors, with all the configurations that the bags can be used in there is no time of the year it cant be used or place for that matter, only downside to this gear is that if your over 6' like me the black bag is a little short but doable & the XL bags are hard to find, i have commercial bags for comfort camping but have these if any SHTF type things happen, dont even need a tent if you have the bivy which is great all by itself, overall for the cost these go for you will have a hard time finding any commercial gear to compete..........

When I purchased this product, I already knew that I made one of the best investments ever. The pros on this modular piece of gear is that it's American made. That's a big deal to me, because it seems as though everything in todays world is made in China. Second, it's longer than I am tall, which is a good thing. I'm only 6'0 tall (which is 72 inches) and this sleeping system is around 8-10 inches longer, which means I will still fit if I grow some more. Third, this system shows obvious signs that it was professionally made (the stiching, fabric, zippers, everything.) which is great. This product is arond ten pounds, but atleast I can use this year-round, which is important. FInally, the price is not bad at all; especially if you consider that it's a four season sleeping system AND it's comfortable. I promise, if you compare this to other sleeping systems out there, you will save on money, and weight if you purchase this. Hauling this ten pound mega modualr beast is WORTH IT. It also packs down really tight, and it can be packed into the bottom half of the MOLLE II Rucksack. I highly recommend this product. There are no cons.Read full review

The bags that I received are very light weight and it can fit in the jacket provided. I have not tried all the bags as it would be too hot. It is designed for cold weather sleeping and I watched a Marine Corps expedition where they slept out in the snow. I have no doubt that this is the bags that the used. The bags are used but they came in excellent condition and the price is right. I probably will order another one for my wife. It will be useful if we have an earthquake and have to sleep outside.

There are tons of definitely lighter, possibly higher quality cold weather bags out there... but the MSS is what I used in the USMC and its ruggedness, flexibility for all kinds of weather, and cost make this the bag to get. I bought this to pair with the ECWS and can be confident I can endure all kinds of weather without going broke.

I have never purchased a used sleeping bag, especially used military. I had my concerns, I thought it might smell funny or have nasty stains that I don’t want to think about. So the first thing I did was unpack the kit and remove each layer one at time for inspection. I used a headlamp so I could get a close look. I inspected for tears, stains, smells and overall condition. I was very pleased that I found no issues. There is some noticeable wear, to be expected with used. The Velcro is much worn but still works, all the buttons snap closed with a satisfy sound. I would buy another.
