It is what it is.
If you have a harddisk of this specific model with a fried controller and the ability to update the firmware on the bord you can fix it. If not you are forced to send it to a repair shop that can. This is sadly not a drop in part alone that just makes your disk work again - or long enough to save the data..

Original Samsung SpinPoint drives before 2011 were great.
I have had only good experiences with the original Samsung SpinPoint hard drives. The reviews for the newer ones since Seagate took over the platter drive division from Samsung has not been as consistent so I am hesitant to buy them. There are fewer and fewer of the older ones available unused and there are obvious longevity issues when buying used drives... every drive eventually bites the dust... so we will see how this used drive I purchased holds up. I have been building and repairing computers for more than 10 years and have a stack of dead drives consisting of every brand... except Samsung
