I was in the process of modifying a case to fit this particular board. Everything was going perfect until I found out it can't seat a dual slot graphics card because the PS2 slot was in the way. I tried to remove the slots with soldering iron and a solder wick but I couldn't get the joints to melt. So i had the bright Idea of scraping the solder joints off and my hand slipped and severed a few circuits. I can't give this a bad rating because of operator error It's a great board for the first gen i3, and i5's. If you're looking to build a budget gaming rig with one I would recommend a single slot GPU. also keep in mind that it can only use up to 4gb 1066 and 1333mhz for a single slot. some people have had issues with such and I would recommend 2gb ram cards for this build. It also doesn't take stock LGA1156 heatsinks. Also, the mounting holes are for OEM cases as perusal with dell products. TL;DR: I Broke it. Recommend: Single slot GPU, 2gb 1333mhz ram cards, as well as OEM case (mid) and OEM heatsink.Read full review

A record of my attempts to modify this motherboard for gaming. This motherboard uses non standard motherboard power connector, non standard micro atx layout, upside down pcie slot, non standard CPU fan header and heatsink layout. I purchased a standard power supply to optiplex 980 power adapter. I tore apart the connectors for old keyboard and mice so that a graphics card needing two slots would fit. I ziptied a heatsink and adapted the CPU fan header reading the pinout for standard CPU fan and the custom CPU fan header. After all this, it was operating fine until I attempted to update the BIOS. This bricked the motherboard, and I believe it was because the CMOS battery was bad, providing only 0.7 V and not the rated 3 V. Ultimately, I do not recommend this board unless you have the original case, CPU fan and heatsink, power supply, and are not planning on adding a graphics card. P.S. The motherboard came with the A16 bios version by default, so Xeon processors we're supported out of box, but the Xeon chip didn't support integrated graphics, and only single slot graphics cards fit without tearing out the PS keyboard and mouse ports.Read full review

This MB replacement is new. It includes a new Graphic Processor (GPU). Install Tip #1: Don't make the mistake of releasing the GPU heat sink. Removing the GPU heat sink will break the bond between the Heat Sink Thermal Pad and the GPU. You'll then have to clean the heat sink and GPU surfaces and install a new pad or apply thermal paste to the GPU surface. Second Installation Tip: Install this MB but do not install you Hard Drive until after your Dell PC goes though its initial boot sequence. It's necessary to program the new motherboard with the Code located on the inside surface of the top cover. Once you complete this setup operation you can shutdown the PC and install your Hard Drive. Note: Failure to follow the sequence just mentioned will result error message that appear to be caused by a bad/defective motherboard. That's not the case, Once again, this is a great replacement component at a very good price.Read full review
