While the capacity of these drives is nothing compared to what's being produced today, the speed and reliability of these drives make the purchase worthwhile. 7200RPM is a good drivespeed, and these take forever to fail in my experience. I've been running my other server 24/7 for 8 years without HD failure.
I bought a PC for a friend who's husband just died and needed a computer for her daughter. it was a Dell with 1 GB of ram in great shape but with no hard drive. I installed the drive and with a Dell restore disk reinstalled the system and the necessary programs. The drive is fast and trouble free. Great part for that computer.
I highly recommend this drive for the hobby builder that needs a replacement drive for their machine has ample storage and good performance. If you can get this drive under $20.00 I suggest you purchase asap.
This drive replaced a failed Maxtor 40GB. It worked flawlessly - installed, formatted, loaded OS, and restored backup up files. From blue screen to new system in less than 2 hours.
Since 2001 this model was used for the Sun Cobalt RAQ and Qube Servers. Great Hard Drive if you do not need much space.
