This aftermarket carburetor seems to be an improvement over the stock Nikki carburetor used by Briggs. I tried cleaning and rebuilding two of the stock Nikki carburetors and I still couldn't get my 407777-0128-E1 to run right -- it always ran really rich. This carburetor and gaskets seems to have done the trick. It's running much, much better, and the fuel/air ratio seems to be close to correct now. For the price and considering it included the gaskets, the carburetor is a good value. I didn't try the fuel filter or spark plugs, though. They seem okay. And as stated in other reviews, the wiring harness for the older style carburetors with the solenoid pointing down will be too short on the black (ground) wire. It was a very easy fix, though: two crimp on butt splices, 3" of black wire, and some electrical tape, and I was back in business.Read full review

Motor starts well and has great power, however; it runs too rich causing momentarily miss-firing and black smoke when opening up the throttle from idle. Same thing happens when running at full throttle and encountering a sudden load as when blowing snow. (Motor has new spark plugs, correct valve lash and magneto gap.)

It was the correct part and an easy install. A bit pricey, but that is to be expected when finding replacement parts for a 15 year-old engine. The old engine started right up and ran like new. Delivery was fast, fast, fast. Yes, I will buy from them again.

Took 1/2 an hour to install and my Tractor ran like a top, right away, after installation. The price makes up the difference it would have cost in rebuilding time (And testing through trial and error, to be sure that my old carberator had every contaminent cleaned out of it, and that every O-Ring, Seal, and Seet (sp) was installed correctly. Delivery took 3 days.

Almost direct replacement for Briggs 499804. Original had fuel shutoff solenoid vertical, below the fuel bowl (old design). Bolted right up and runs great. Only modification was cutting the pigtail and adding about 2" to each of the fuel solenoid wires. New life into a 19 year old V-twin riding mower.
