Love the drive, it was easy to set up and not difficult to create new directories and accounts. My only complaint is that my Visio Smart TV can't play the videos directly from the drive. It sees the files, but the way that the drive serves the media files isn't compatible with the TV player. If I hook it up direct to the TV using the USB port, everything works fine, but in wireless access mode, no good. Works really great though as my primary computer backup drive. Backing up over the wifi is a piece of cake. I like it overall and will get another one should I require more space.

Setup is convenient and mostly automatic, assuming you have DHCP on your local network. It identifies itself as "mycloud" and accessed thru the Windows network manager. When you drag-drop files onto its filesystem, the files won't show up correctly on a Media Browser for 24 hours. After that time, the MyCloud apparently processes the files into an xml file index. Hence, your files aren't available for 24 hours, with no way I've found to force a re-index. Same for when you delete files.... they show up as "unavailable" for 24 hours. There is no transcoding, so if you're accessing your files with a Roku, they need to be in MP4 format, not AVI or MKV. Roku advertises MKV, but it doesn't work. I haven't tried using this device simply as a USB drive attached to a Plex server, but that might solve the problems. As it is, the MyCloud built-in software is a minimal Media Service, at best. Video streaming is fast enough to never interrupt movie playing. The hardware is well made and quiet. The optional backup software (for a personal backup storage cloud) is useless unless you're on a Mac or PC. I have now junked everything except the working hard drive. This was a waste of money !Read full review

Decent replacement for online cloud services services but I find the connection to be a bit slow at times. It takes forever to copy files to and from the device. It is easy to setup with multiple users and folders, but there is no easy way to switch between users. One great thing is that it has apps for Apple and other devices that work even better than the windows programs. For example, there is no easy way to select multiple files on windows for copying etc.

It was a breeze to set up. Once set up it was easy and fast to transfer files from my pc to the cloud device. I also created special folders for special products and that was also quite easy to do. Updating is manual but the device notifies you when an update is available when you access it after the update is ready to download and install. I also monitor it's temp and it runs warm but never hot with the great ventilation it has. You can attach another usb storage drive and use it thru the cloud device as more storage. For a starter NAS storage device, it has been great getting started using NAS.

This unit is great. I have it in my living room so i don't spend too much time around it for the sound to bother me. I wouldn't say its loud though, i don't notice it while i'm there. The unit is relatively quick but i think my internet speed is the weak link. The only thing i DONT like about this is that you have to manually back it up, you cant schedule a back up routine.
