Got this just for a spot to put an extra socket 775 E8400 cpu into with 4gb of ddr2. Works fine, it booted up without any problems into windows 8. The bios is extremely basic though, you can't change the voltage on anything. So you are stuck with defaults on the CPU or north and southbridge.... so overclocking isn't gonna happen to any large degree... but such a basic motherboard wouldn't be able to handle that anyways. But I was still able to overclock a couple hundred mhz up to 3.2 ghz... but even if this had voltage control I doubt the board could handle it since theres only one small heatsink on it. Its very power efficient as well, from the wall i measured it using around 40 watts when the PC was idle, and when overclocked it slightly used about 45-50 watts idle. Likely the power usage would be a bit less if I didnt use a PCI-E video card but the e8400 doesn't have onboard video, and even if it did, it wouldn't work too well in windows 7, 8 or 10 since I don't think Aero worked on those onboard gpu chipsets since drivers that supported Aero were never made.. I knew this because I have a pentium D cpu and could never get Aero/DWM to work in windows 7 or beyond because there were no drivers to allow it. It even has SATA, ATA and Floppy connectors. Just great for any old backwards compatibility I may need for older drives. I could even turn this into a DOS PC most likely if I felt like it. Overall, great value, and the fact it has PCI-E slots is a massive bonus since I don't have any extra AGP cards around. I may get a PCI-E usb 3 adapter card at some point if i need some usb 3 speeds for something. This is more of a backup right now since I already have a much more heavy duty socket 775 board, but i'll likely use this to test hard drives which takes a while and other random things.Read full review
