Most laptops have the cpu soldered to the motherboard so you’re out of luck upgrading that part of the laptop but the HP8560P allows this. I bought two i7-2640M cpus and they were a big performance improvement over the stock i5 cpu. Well worth the money if you have an older laptop that needs a serious upgrade.

Bought this to upgrade my VAIO. Works great and only took 20 mins to install. I would suggest using high quality thermal paste. If you are upgrading a machine that is in service, make sure you uninstall your old processor from device manager so that it updates your hardware list to show the new one.

If you don't need a bunch of cores to multitask and are stuck with a Gen 2 Core i3, i5, i7 board this is the cpu you want.

Love it. Loads Windows 8.1 pro way faster now without overclocking and works. Put it in an old Dell N7110 and so far no problems. Received it sooner than I expected. Came in one of the best packages I received to keep item safe with plenty of cushioning.

Updated my Lenovo T420 i5-2520M to this i7-2640M and it performs awesome. Takes a little time to install and make sure you use good thermal paste like Artic Silver, or whatever you prefer. Check the cooling fan while you have it out and make sure it's clean and quiet, or replace it with a new one, there not that expensive and it can make a difference later on. I would definitely recommend this processor as a high end i7-2 core upgrade.
