The Hitachi Deskstar® 7K250 250 GB ATA-100 Hard Drive was priced right for a pulled drive and after a thorough diagnostic test I found no abnormal problems. It had a good quiet spin-up and read/write worked normal. The operating temperature was within specified parameters. I was able to clone my old failing hard drive directly to the "Hitachi" disk and swapped them out. My computer booted up and appeared to work just fine with the replacement disk. Great ebay value for the cost compared to many of the other drives being offered. My older computer should run another 2 years being needing replacement!
I was surprised to find a great deal on a hard to find Hard Drive to fit my old computer. I installed the Hard Drive and it fit perfectly. Thank You!

What I like most is the quality of IDE/PATA Hitachi Desktar drives. Hitachi drives compare favourably to other high quality brands. However...I wonder why Hitachi -or any other manufacturer- does not place a warning sticker in the static-protection bag, indicating if the Hard Drive is new or refurbished. How might anyone know if the Hard Drive is new, unless opening the bag?. No matter how good quality a brand is, a new HDD is what some customers are looking for sometimes. I decided to buy the Hitachi drive, because of the quality/price ratio.
It was the exact right size for a Custom PC that I was building,I've always had good luck with Hitachi Deskstar Hard Drives whether it be SATA or IDE. I bought it because of the description and of course the price. If there is any downfall it would be the jumper configuration, you have to use 2 jumpers instead of one, but that is a minor concern. I would definately buy another one.
The name Hitachi says it all. If your looking for quality, low power consumption, speed and reliability at a fair price for desktop or laptop applications. Look no further, Hitachi says it all. I know, I am a Certified OEM System Builder. Tech_stuff4u
