The T530 with the 1920x1080 screen is a rarity in Thinkpads--a good TN panel display, something you don't see in most Thinkpads. While missing the enhanced viewing angles you'll get with an IPS display available in later Thinkpads, this was a very impressive panel, probably the best TN out there on the T series laptops. The machine obviously is on the large side so don't go for it if you are looking for a light laptop--that's what the Carbon X1 and the like are for. It's also the last T5xx series machine that does not have a numeric keypad. For some that's a good thing (the keyboard is centered under the display) while for others it's a big problem (especially for those doing financial or accounting work where the 10-key is a major boost for productivity). It is relatively easy to upgrade the machine. The DVD can be swapped out for a bay that can hold an additional hard drive and getting to the standard hard drive and the RAM slots is also easy. Adding a solid state drive (which were much more costly when this machine was new) can do a lot to boost the speed of the machine. Overall, if you are looking for a solid 15" laptop, you certainly could do worse than this one.Read full review
