The AMD Sempron 140 in my HTPC died, shorted internally. Being that the machine is 3-4 years old, it made sense to look for a used CPU. The 145 is an clock upgrade over what I had, and it's still a low power device compared to most others. Lower power = less heat = less fan = quieter box. After installing the CPU and cooler with fresh compound, my htpc is alive again, and my wife is happy.

For a single core, low power processor, you can trust this one. It's stable and low heat output. In spite that, when used on motherboard with DDR3 RAM it can run 2 simulateous 720p videos on Youtube, or a single 1080p with no lag, no problems. Best use is for mom and pop computer doing some word processing and email and cruising the internet, watching videos. Not a good choice for gamers, or someone doing large image processing. I use this with Linux Mint 14-17 and also with Kubuntu 12-14 versions and had no problems running Linux with it. When this is combined with a motherboard using AMD's cool and quiet system, and a PSU that uses a thermal controlled fan, it's a very, very quiet system, which can be suspended and left on day after day, especially on a stable platform like Linux.
One shouldn't have high expectations when buying a used electronic component. It's working great now, and hopefully for many months/years to come. The item was received on time and packaged great. I'm very pleased with my purchase.
