My wife was complaining that she hadn't access to a computer at our house, and that she needed to drag her work laptop back home all the time. So I found an old desktop out in the garage that I brought back to life with more RAM, a 160GB hard drive and the Pentium 4 2.4 processor. It initially had a 1.6 GHz P4, which was a little weak, so I decided to go for the 2.4 GHz. A nice upgrade over the 1.6, but not as hot as the fastest P4 CPUs. With the RAM maxed out to 2GB, this computer now runs XP just fine and it is good enough when my wife just needs to use a computer for simpler tasks and surfing.

Had an older computer running on a celeron. I wanted to speed it up. Changing the processor was a big help. I did hire a techie to install it as I had already bent the pins on one. This upgrade was still a lot cheaper than a new pc.
the only con is my motherboard, only seems to support 400 MHz, so it only see it as 1.8 GHz instead of 2.4GHz, but that is because of my motherboard and not the CPU

I bought as a retro build so I can play classic DOS. Sure you can just use DOS box, but not all games will run like they were in their prime. Only a few games will cause problems or if you're like me and you just want that complete nostalgic feel then build yourself a classic windows 98 era computer and play some old school Wolfenstein 3D.
