I bought this unit to replace my old R500 that finally died. I had a new battery & charger, and having no OS was a bonus, as I have a DVD for Linux OS. The install was flawless and fast, taking about 20mins.(much faster and easier than having to overwrite a WindowsOS) New batteries and chargers are available on Ebay, and Linux DVDs available online (you can install on as many machines as you want)

This was a Super bargain, a complete and fully operating computer with free shipping. Windows Vista Business (32bit) was installed and functioned flawlessly. Assorted other programs were installed to make the computer complete. Mechanical specs.(as sold) were: CPU (T9400) C2D 2.53Ghz w/ 6M L2 cache shared, 802.11n WiFi, 2.0 Bluetooth, Ram 2Gb 1066M ram installed, HD 160Gb, DVD DVD-RW, and an Intel HD4500 video device, 2.9Ah battery, battery charger/ AC plug-in. Upgrades: CPU (T9900) C2D 3.06Ghz w/ 6M L2 cache, Ram 4Gb, HD 640Gb, DVD Blu-ray reader/DVD-RW Combo. I enjoy using this more than the R51 I purchased before, it has expendable features allowing an avenue to greater usefulness.
I have been using IBM products since the late 2000 and I love the fact that these laptops are business like and last longer in lifespan as well.

So far I am liking the the lenovo R500, I miss the 10 key on the right side but that is just my personal choice I didnt notice it was missing when I purchased. I installed Linux Mint as the OS and so far I love it
