It offers scalability, security, network uptime, and reliable system performance. This gigabit Ethernet SFP switch is easy to insert, set up, and connect to your available modular devices. With its 24 ports and managed design, it has plenty of options. For optimum speed and security results, run the gigabit Ethernet SFP switch to desktop computers over fiber. The Cisco Catalyst 6500 WS-X6724-SFP interface switch was designed for use with the Cisco Catalyst 6500 Series Supervisor Engine 720. The WS-X6724-SFP switch is compatible with every Cisco Catalyst 6500 Series chassis slot that runs the Cisco IOS software. This is thanks to its 20 Gbps connection to the 720 Gbps switch fabric. When paired with a single Catalyst 6513 chassis, the modular Ethernet port density rises to 288 ports. This device offers a range of port densities and performance speeds for multiple-deployment or mixed-media environments. It also offers you a choice of which media type you want to use. It supports both fiber and copper cables using GBIC or SFP modules or MT-RJ fixed optics. These tiny power devices slip into the existing system and get busy right away. This offers you a boost in media services, software, and performance. Implement several of these 24 ports in a high-speed server farm or data center to expand your networking options. This IEEE hardware module is also good for web-hosting, Metro Ethernet applications, gigabit uplinks, and high-performance enterprise and service provider distribution. In its base configuration, this switch can forward packets at up to 30 Mbps. It does this by using the central CEF engine located on the supervisor engine. The Cisco Catalyst 6500 24-port switch supports numerous protocols. The switch modules work with the Cisco Systems enhanced Per-Virtual LAN Spanning Tree Plus Protocol. It also works with IEEE 802.1w Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol and IEEE 802.1s Multiple Spanning Tree Protocol. It’s additionally compatible with Hot Standby Router Protocol and many others. This device can aggregate up to eight physical fast Ethernet, gigabit Ethernet, or 10-gigabit Ethernet links. It compiles them into a single virtual link using Cisco’s Port Aggregation Protocol or IEEE 802.3ad technology. The 6500 series switches offer clients an excellent high-speed access solution for their network backbone. The Cisco Catalyst 6500 24-port Ethernet switches let clients manage, police, and prioritize traffic in a smart and efficient manner. This is thanks to its support for multiple queues per port. All switch ports support Weighted Random Early Detection for avoiding congestion within the queue. It comes with Weighted Round Robin to improve network scheduling discipline between queues. The port switch is good for handling critically important, low-latency traffic such as enterprise resource planning or voice applications. The Catalyst 6500 Series switches support the CiscoWorks network management platform. These switches offer numerous redeployment and upgrade options. It supports hot-pluggable SFPs high-density modular optics, as well as jumbo frames up to 9000 bytes. The Cisco Catalyst 6500 24-port Ethernet switches can be equipped with optional WS-F6700-DFC3B distributed forwarding cards. It then delivers speeds up to 26 Mpps per slot. The Cisco Catalyst 6500 Series switches also support multi-module channeling technology. This creates channels between ports, so even if the module and its ports fail, the connectivity remains.
