What other sub $300 laptop can both outperform intel’s 8th generation i5 processors in certain cpu intensive tasks, as well as having the graphical capability of playing most esports titles at 1080p low or most games at 720p low. For example on top of playing csgo and Rocket League, I can also play the Witcher 3 at some really decent settings on 720p and still get a solid frame rate. This is far and away superior to any integrated solution on the Intel side of things and I’m very happy with the choice I made. The few “downsides” I have with this device are that the ram is configured in single channel, and with these Ryzen APU (Ryzen5-2500u in this case) the performance gain we see from using duel channel memory is worth the money to install another stick of ram, although you may be able to configure it this way on purchase, but it would be more expensive. Also the battery life is, at the best, on par with most other extreme budget laptops (maybe 4-5 hours basic use). Lastly for issues, and this is really the only true gripe, the 1366x768 display reminds me of my 2011 MacBook Air. Horrible vertical viewing angels (decent horizontal though), colors are obviously off the worst being how grossly washed out the blacks are, and lastly the pixelation due to the low pixel density is pretty noticeable, especially if you spend your time around high quality displays usually. That being said everything else including the build quality, storage speed, upgradability, thermals, keyboard, trackpad (with dedicated right and left click which is not modern but nice!), and speakers are all passable on the budget laptop scale. Nothing in that list is stellar or impressive at all, but overall for the price I understand why they focused on performance in place of some other things. One day I hope for a computer this price companies can include a decent ips display or even and junky 1080p panel with this much performance and decent build quality otherwise, but for now, and probably for years to come, this is far and away one the most amazing bang for the buck purchases I’ve ever had the pleasure to make Especially consider I got it used, in perfect shape for $270 after shipping and tax, I can’t be more happy with this device even after the junky screen has been in front of me for the past few days. I hope this helps anybody out there looking for a good budget laptop, or for reasonable gaming performance for the money.Read full review

I purchased this laptop mainly because it had the built-in DVD-RW. It seems the new laptops are lacking this 'feature' now. I don't understand how laptops are supposed to maintain the 'convenience' aspect if you have to carry around an external CD/DVD drive in order to listen to your CDs or watch your DVDs. So not only does it increase the items you have to lug around but it'll also consume another USB port. On the plus side, it's a fast laptop with great graphics, however, the battery life could use improvement. I was also surprised to learn the battery is built-in so upgrading/replacing the battery will be quite the chore. In addition, I was disappointed when I realized this particular model lacked the backlit keyboard. I'll have to purchase a backlit keyboard upgrade and have it installed by a qualified technician since it requires soldering.Read full review

I bought this laptop for Fedora Linux. I plan on mostly using it for web browsing, gaming, and pulling up the VPN to work remotely. There are a couple design flaws with this system. 1) The resolution is 768p... 1080p would have been nice. 2) in order to open it up you have to remove the rubber feet because the screws are underneath 3) closing the lid triggers a keycode that turns on airplane mode in Linux. Not sure if it affects Win. It can be disabled Other than those flaws, this system is great. The processor is really powerful and you can run some decent games on it. I upgraded the storage to 500GB and replaced the battery. I get about 3-4 hours of battery life with a fresh battery which is good but not great. I am fairly happy with my decision although the lack of 1080p is a little bit sad.Read full review
