The fans need to be replaced typically (if you get used). So figure that into the cost. They have typical "smart" manges switch technology. Link aggregation, Port priority / QOS / Spanning tree and storm control. Easy to factory reset and update firmware. They are no longer updated by Netgear but I really like these switches. Great gigabit speeds and reliable.

I was using GS716T (16 port) but needed additional ports so I purchased this one assuming they will have feature parity. Unfortunately this is close to an unmanaged switch.

A very good price for a managed 10/100/1000 switch, making it suitable for a small to medium sized network in the place of a standard "smart/unmanaged" switch. Configuration is very simple and can be used "out of the box" until you decide what and if you want to tune on your network. I got very good through put on my network with this in its default settings. It is quite, light weight and has low power consumption. The unit is a little smaller than average in depth. Inside the box it is mostly air, with a small power supply and a ciruit board that is way smaller than you expect. There are two small fans providing the cooling.
Good well designed product with a rich feature set for the prosumer sector. Haven't messed around with many of the "smart" features but its great to know it comes with many of the hot wanted functionality, eg. VLAN's. Swtich was a bit loud with a buzzing sound from the fan. Something to get used to if its in your bedroom otherwise you will need to put it away from any sleeping areas.

Higher aggregate capability and no fan noise. Very quiet.
