Well depends if you are lucky on the model of laptop. I was fortunate enough to have bought a used model that the original owner nearly maxed out on all the updates on. Even not maxed out this is still a great bargain laptop with an amazing build quality and security with the fingerprint scanner. The speakers and screen are great for entertainment such as streaming. I highly recommend this laptop for anyone looking for a budget. My only gripes are that the keyboard isn't back lit but it does have a small led light by the webcam you can activate to see your keyboard. Also doesn't have a HDMI but it does have a DisplayPort which you still use with HDMI as long as you have an adapter though. DIY upgrades for faster usage is a SSD hard drive (brings bootind to 20 seconds max) and more memory (ram will increase laptop speed at least 10% but most people report 20%+). Even without those DIY upgrades the computer is still great for what it is. I bought this laptop for web development and minor graphic design work and its handles it all swimmingly.Read full review

The ThinkPad T420 and T420s are my faves. About 2nd Gen. I think Intel i5 and i7 processors will definitely get you through your 20 or 30 active chrome tabs with 8GB of RAM.. Running OS on SSD makes a the biggest difference for the smallest extra cost. Great machines. EDIT: I just purchased another one of these for a friend.
